Letters to a 300 year old tree
I just found my Dear Tree booklet from 1993. It contains letters written to a Sweet Chestnut tree which we were trying to save in East London. People from all over the world wrote to the 300 year old tree.
I joined people who were living in the tree and helped maintain a constant presence below and around a fire. A postman delivered letters so the courts had to accept it was a legal dwelling.
It began my life of filming direct action protest.
