Clean-up Daegu Arboretum
If youre looking for a way to give back to yourcommunity and clean-up Daegus environment, I recommend doing community service at the Daegu Arboretum. I found out about this on the volunteer portal www.1365.go.kr, a place where you can apply to volunteer in Daegu with just the click of a button.
I chose the Daegu Arboretum because I dont have many chances to go out to Dalseo-gu and I had plenty of free time to spare that morning. So giving up a couple hours, 9:30 am to 11:30 am, didnt hurt at all and it was all for a good cause. I arrived there about 20 minutes prior to when I had to start working. I wanted to give a quick look around for critical areas that needed the most cleaning so I wouldnt have to waste time wandering around not knowing where to start first.
After heading to the main office I signed in, grabbed a trash bag, got some gloves and tongs then I headed out to do some cleaning. On any given weekday at Daegu Arboretum, you can find dozens of students who travel there on field trips with their school teachers and faculty members. So I know how important it is for a place like that to be free of trash and littering.
On my way around, I found everything from socks, cigarettes, peanuts, and even a can in the bushes!! I know that the people who put in hours of time landscaping and watering the plants would never want to see anyone trashing up their beautiful work. I especially know the citizens who also frequent the area want to see a clean scenery. As citizens of Daegu City, we often see landscapers and cleaners working hard for our environment so it was a great feeling to be a part of that team.
